Weft is a full service product design + development studio specializing in Technical Soft Goods.
We’re here to bring ideas to life.
OUR PILLARS
-
We start every project with a clean slate. Abandoning biases and assumptions allows us to jump into the research - and get into the users shoes. Depending on the project, this can mean anything from hiding in a snow cave at Avalanche Dog training to taking a competitive product into the field to reading through online forums.
-
We believe that the first step to creating a sustainable product is focusing on high quality, long lasting gear. This means paying a little more for thoughtful construction techniques, certified materials, and the best factories.
-
We believe that we are greater together, and we should all be aligned in our goal of creating the best product possible. That’s why we prioritize transparency every step of the way. We move quickly to implement feedback, and have intention behind every decision.
Behind the Name
We love building with textiles, and we get into the weeds when it comes to material construction.
In any woven textile, there are two key parts - the WARP yarns and the WEFT yarn. The weft yarn travels over and under the warp yarns to transform the yarn into fabric. It touches every piece of the process and holds the yarn together to create a material that meets your performance needs.
Meet Monica, our Founder and Lead Designer
After working for leading Outdoor Industry brands for 6+ years, she decided it was time to branch off and offer services to a wider range of clients. In 2022, she started Weft, and hit the ground running. In our first year, we’ve partnered with clients ranging from start ups to well renowned outdoor brands. Monica is the lead on every project.
Walking the talk.
As big fans of outdoor sports, we are pretty hard on our gear. We know what it takes to build high quality, long-lasting gear, and we will be the first in line to test samples and quickly determine points of failure.
Giving back to the future generation.
Nothing brings us more joy than volunteering our time to assist in programs that we believe do a great job at educating future Industrial Designers - like Offsite and Virginia Tech Industrial Design.
